Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm

After years of hearing of this cleanser being at the top of the list of the highest rated cleansers out there, I bit the bullet and bought it recently when it was on offer on the Emma Hardie website. It’s normally £36 (t’would want to give you an Amazing Face for that) for 100ml size with double sided muslin/microfibre cloth, but at the time I ordered it you also got a 50ml travel size included in the price. There’s free UK shipping so if you use Parcel Motel like I did, it’ll only cost you the parcel motel fee of €3.95 rather than the extortionate UK-Ireland shipping charge of £10.75!!

As is usual with Parcel Motel (how did we ever live without it?!) the parcel arrived quickly and hassle free. It was well packaged, in fact the box it arrived in was huge, you could easily have fit 4 sets into the size of box it was sent in, but it was well wrapped in giant bubble wrap.

The balm itself has a typical balm consistency, thick waxy, goopy stuff that turns into an oil when massaged into the skin. It makes short work of makeup & dirt and you use the damp facecloth to sweep it all away. I found the muslin side quite abrasive so I save that for exfoliating any rough patches I have and use the microfibre side to remove the balm from the rest of my face.  My face isn’t left feeling dry or tight afterwards and there’s no greasy film left on the skin, it’s just soft and clean and ready for toner/moisturiser. The smell is quite strong, roses mostly, but it doesn’t linger after you wipe it off with the facecloth.

I’ve been using it for approx 6 weeks now and have had no problems or breakouts with it. A little goes a long way with this balm as you can see below, I’ve only used a little so far and it’s used every night to take off my makeup.

The only fault I can find with it at all, and it’s a small niggle, is that I think mine must have been dropped somewhere along the way. As when it arrived there was a tiny crack in the edge of the lid. And with the constant twisting of the lid every night the crack spread until the see through plastic casing on the lid cracked in 2 and came off. Now there’s still a working lid, the gold part underneath, unfortunately the gold is painted onto plastic so everytime I twist the lid to open it I end up with a handful of gold paint.

Again it doesn’t really bother me, a quick rinse under the tap and the gold is gone, but it don’t look as pretty on my bathroom shelf as it used to. I’ve noticed on inspection of the travel size version that there is also a similar crack so I assume the same will happen to that when I get around to using it.

  1. I’ve wanted to try this for ages! Sounds similar to eve lom but more affordable! I don’t think you’re the only one with lid issues either, I’ve seen essie button giving out about it before too.

    • It’s definitely a treat. If you’re into balm & oil cleansers, which I am, them it’s worth it. I love the Clinique balm but this is just that bit more luxurious & lovely.

  2. This sounds lovely! I’m currently using the boots cleansing oil, which is quite nice but I’d love something a little more luxurious like this to use. Shame about the crack though :/
